Reading the Holy Scriptures confers two benefits. It trains the mind to understand them; it turns man’s attention from the follies of the world and leads him to the love of God.

“Better to have little and with it fear of God than immense wealth and with it anxiety.” Proverbs 15:16

(Grace and Peace) Those who have very little wealth may be richer than those who have immense wealth. Even though this may sound like a strange paradox, this is exactly what happens if those who have little wealth possess the great virtue of ‘the fear of the Lord’. The fear of the Lord is a paradise of blessings and in the lives of the people in whom it takes root, every blessing abounds. Their children grow up well, peace fills their hearts and cries of joy ring out from their homes. No amount of wealth can buy peace and joy; rather immensity of wealth without the fear of the Lord can only bring anxiety.

Even where the difficulties are so great as to lead to discouragement and the power of evil so overwhelming as to dishearten, those who can rediscover the simplicity of a child can begin to hope anew.

Enjoy yourself as much as you like – if only you keep from sin.

All the good works in the world are not equal to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass as they are the works of men; Martyrdom is nothing in comparison for it is but the sacrifice of man to God; but the Mass is the sacrifice of God for man.

I am not dying, I am entering into Life...

It is not the actual physical exertion that counts towards a one's progress, nor the nature of the task, but by the spirit of faith with which it is undertaken.

By prayer and mortification, we will make our way to the most uncivilized countries, paving the way for the missionaries.

It is true: Jesus is a demanding friend. He points to lofty goals: he asks us to go out of ourselves in order to meet him, entrusting to him our whole life.

You must realize now, more clearly than ever, that God is calling you to serve Him in and from the ordinary activities of life. He waits for us everyday, in the factory, in the home and in all the immense panorama of work.

O Mary, you are so anxious to help us that you are hurt when we do not ask you for graces.

What we need most in order to make progress is to be silent before this great God with our appetite and with our tongue, for the language He best hears is silent love.

Be humble and you will never be disturbed. It is very difficult in practice because we all want to see the result of our work. Leave it to Jesus.

Spiritual joy arises from purity of the heart and perseverance in prayer.

It would be considered a theft on our part if we didn't give to someone in greater need than we are.

The riches of my Spouse are poverty, ignominy and humiliations. Even I too have got it. God has given me the special grace to suffer with Jesus. What else more should I aspire for?

To fall in love with God is the greatest romance; to seek Him the greatest adventure; to find Him, the greatest human achievement."

Arm yourself with prayer rather than a sword; wear humility rather than fine clothes.

We should consider those moments spent before the Blessed Sacrament as the happiest of our lives.

Actions speak louder than words; yet we are full of words but empty of actions. Therefore we are cursed by the Lord, since he himself cursed the fig tree when he found no fruit but only leaves.
