You can do nothing with children unless you win their confidence and love by bringing them into touch with yourself. We must accommodate ourselves to their tastes, we must make ourselves like them.

Occupy your mind with good thoughts, or the enemy will fill them with bad ones.

Consult God more than your books, and ask him, with humility, to make you understand what you read. Go from time to time to refresh them at the feet of Jesus Christ under His cross. Some moments of repose in his sacred wounds give fresh vigor and new lights.

Live in the world as if only God and your soul were in it; then your heart will never be made captive by any earthly thing.

The entire life of a good Christian is in fact an exercise of holy desire. You do not yet see what you long for, but the very act of desiring prepares you, so that when He comes you may see and be utterly satisfied.

The more you have, the more you are occupied, the less you give. But the less you have the more free you are. Poverty for us is a freedom. It is not mortification, a penance.

The Lord has the right to be glorified by us at every moment. So if we waste time, we are robbing God of his glory.

One who associates with the good will go to Heaven with them.

Temptation is necessary to make us realize that we are nothing in ourselves.

If God goes in search of man, created in his own image and likeness, he does so because he loves him eternally in the Word, and wishes to raise him in Christ to the dignity of an adoptive Son. God therefore goes in search of man who is His special possession in a way unlike any other creature.

This is the business of our life. By labor and prayer to advance in the Grace of God, till we come to that height of perfection in which, with clean hearts, we may behold God.

Holiness grows so fast where there is kindness. The world is lost for want of sweetness and kindness. Do not forget we need each other.

There is more value in a little study of humility and in a single act of it than in all the knowledge in the world.

Man cannot live without joy; therefore when he is deprived of true spiritual joys it is necessary that he become addicted to carnal pleasures.

A man who fails to love the Mass fails to love Christ. We must make an effort to "live" the Mass with calm and serenity, with devotion and affection.

Jesus is my only friend.

From Mary we learn to surrender to God's Will in all things. From Mary we learn to trust even when all hope seems gone. From Mary we learn to love Christ her Son and the Son of God!

Conversion to God always consists in discovering his mercy, that is, in discovering that love which is patient and kind as only the Creator and Father can be. Conversion to God is always the fruit of the "rediscovery" of this Father, who is rich in mercy.

Make friends with the angels, who though invisible are always with you. . . . Often invoke them, constantly praise them, and make good use of their help and assistance in all your temporal and spiritual affairs.
