“And I say, ‘Who will give me wings like a dove, to fly away and find rest?’ How far I would escape, and make a nest in the desert!”
Psalm 55:6-7
Grace and Peace!
Sometimes all of us feel the need to escape from this world around us - well, we are not alone; even the Psalmist felt the same way! The Psalm from which today’s verse is taken tells of the great sorrow of the Psalmist, betrayed by a friend whom he loved more than his own self. In such situations, all of us need a change - we need to fly to a desert - a place of solitude where we can find healing and consolation. But how can we escape to this desert, how can we fly? Here we have some good news: the moment we bow our heads and fall on our knees in front of our Creator, He gives us the ‘wings’ to fly away from our torments and find peace. Today as we may face rejection, persecution, hurts and insults, let us raise our eyes to our Crucified God, Jesus Christ! He has promised us that He will never leave us alone. Every time we lift our souls to Him in prayer, Jesus will snatch our soul from the jaws of our enemies, safe from all our pains.
Praise God!
