The humble win the esteem of God

“Because he has looked upon the humiliation of his servant. Yes, from now onwards all generations will call me blessed.” Luke 1:48

The virtue which is most pleasing to God is humility - humility attracts God's gaze towards us. Humility makes us beautiful in God's sight whereas pride makes us repellent to Him. Humility will win us everlasting glory and renown whereas pride will bring everlasting shame and disgrace on us. How careful we must be then, to nurture the priceless virtue of humility, and how eager we must be to learn and practise it!
