I was thirsty, and you gave me drink

“He said: I am thirsty.” John 19:28

The words 'I thirst', which fell from the lips of the Divine Saviour as He lay hanging on the Cross reveal to us His mystical thirst for our souls and for our whole-hearted love. If we harden our hearts and ignore our Lord’s words, we may later hear Him say to us on the last day, "I was thirsty, and you never gave me drink." Therefore, let us open our hearts to Jesus on the Cross and offer Him drink by surrendering our life and our Will to Him.
